At Devon the Defender, every program we run is rooted in kindness, action, and equality — the same values that Devon lived by. Our goal is to create meaningful opportunities for children and young adults to succeed, no matter their circumstances.
Whether you donate, sponsor, volunteer, or simply spread the word, you’re part of this mission too. Every program we run is powered by generous hearts like yours.
Let’s defend what matters — together.
Every winter, we deliver brand-new coats to 3rd-grade students in local school districts — starting with Wyoming Area and expanding each year. These aren’t hand-me-downs — they’re new, warm, and filled with dignity, because every child deserves to feel confident and cared for.
"We don’t just hand out coats — we help kids show up ready to learn, play, and thrive.”
Each spring, we award a scholarship to a graduating senior at Wyoming Area High School who exemplifies the compassion, leadership, and drive that defined Devon’s life. This scholarship isn’t just about academics — it’s about character, and the courage to stand up for others.
Know a student who fits that description? Applications open each spring.
We are actively developing a free tutoring and homework support program for elementary and middle school students in our community. In partnership with local churches and educators, we plan to offer weekly sessions to help children build confidence and close learning gaps.

Young people aging out of foster care often face overwhelming challenges — from budgeting and job hunting to basic independent living. We’re working to build a support system that offers real-world training, encouragement, and resources to help them launch strong.
Starting small. Dreaming big. This is one of Devon’s most meaningful legacies.
Each August, we host the Devon Silva Memorial Golf Tournament, our signature fundraising event. It’s more than a day on the course — it’s a powerful gathering of friends, families, and community leaders coming together to support Devon’s mission.
